Medical Advocacy

I am available to provide advocacy for you or your family if in-patient or out-patient care has become overwhelming confusing.

If your care has become complicated by the need for multiple specialists, if hospital care has become complex or your questions have not been adequately answered, I may be able to help you with this process.

Hospital care is now largely managed by hospitalists and specialists, who often rotate in and out of hospital service. In some cases the patient and family feel adrift and at discharge leave the hospital or rehab facility with many unanswered questions at a time when they feel most vulnerable or fragile. This should not occur. A physician-advocate  can help ensure that such transitions are smooth, that care has been appropriate and coordinated, and that you or your loved one are confident and clear about the days ahead.  A physician-advocate can also help clarify treatment options in complex cases during in-hospital care if you feel your team of physicians may not be communicating in an ideal fashion. Through many years of providing hospital care, I have been committed to making this process work better than it sometimes does.
